concept

thecharlyconscience was formed unintentionally.  it was born from necessity.  i’ve always loved art, music, film, design, anything relating to a sensory experience.  i’ve always been more visually articulate.  it took me a while to figure out in what forum to express myself, and what medium to use.  i wanted to be an architect but didn’t like the business part of it.  i wanted to be a musician but didn’t like the idea of not getting paid.  i wanted to be an artist but neither a starving one nor an over-saturated, narcissistic one; and i didn’t want to be an under-appreciated, self-loathing one either.  i know.  i was being picky.  so i studied art with the intention of finding my forum and my medium.  i studied animation, i studied art history, i studied graphic design, i studied architecture, i studied digital technique.

i got my degree in general art and started drafting architectural plans for small firm, independent architects.  i found a 9-5 at an interior design firm, then a pool and landscape company found me.  then the ’08 economic crisis found them.  it found us, really.  i had nothing.  no work, no leads, no next move.  so i reinvented myself with new work, new leads, new moves.

and here we are.  doing something new every day.  drafting, rendering, designing, compositing, coloring.  and i’m neither under-appreciated nor over-saturated.
